Config Setup

A walkthrough of the setup wizard — from creator identity to launching your AI clone.

Before You Start

You'll need:

An Instagram Business or Creator account (you can convert in your Instagram settings if needed)
An active Lightwell subscription (Starter, Pro, or Elite)
Optional: your affiliate links ready to upload (you can always add them later)

Step 1: Creator Identity

This is how your AI clone understands who you are. Fill in all four fields:

Creator Name / Handle: What your audience calls you — your name, brand name, or Instagram handle. This is what your clone identifies as.
Content Focus: The what of your brand. What topics do you post about? (e.g., Tech, Beauty, Cooking, Fitness, Finance)
Target Audience: The who. Who are you trying to help? (e.g., "Business owners looking to grow on social media" or "Moms who want quick healthy meals")
Personality Trait: How you want your clone to sound. Pick the one that fits you best — friendly, knowledgeable, witty, motivational, etc.

💡 Tip: Be specific. "Tech expert helping business owners automate their workflow" is far more useful to the AI than just "tech." The more context you give, the better your clone represents you.

Step 2: Bot Appearance

This is where you set the look and feel of your clone's chat widget — what your followers will actually see.

Clone Name: The display name shown at the top of the chat. It's dynamic — as you type it, the preview on the right updates in real time.
Primary Color: Your brand color for the chat widget. You can paste a hex code directly, pick from suggested colors, or open the custom color picker.
Greeting Message: The very first message your followers see when they open the chat. Use it to set expectations — tell them what to ask about and make them feel welcome.

💡 Greeting tip: Give your followers a prompt to get started. For example: "Hey! Ask me about my skincare routine, favorite products, or anything from my posts 💄"

Step 3: Affiliate Links, FAQs & Featured Items

Everything on this page is optional — you can skip all of it and add things later from your dashboard. Here's what each section does:

Affiliate Links

Upload a CSV of your affiliate products so your clone can recommend them when followers ask about relevant topics. If you're using ShopMy, LTK, Amazon Associates, or any other platform, see the Affiliate Links guide for how to prepare your file.

Not ready yet? Check "Skip affiliate links for now" — you can upload them anytime from Content → Affiliate Links.

FAQs (Pro & Elite)

Add custom Q&A content so your clone can answer questions that aren't in your Instagram posts — pricing, course info, booking details, etc. See the FAQs guide for how to use this feature.

Featured Items (Elite only)

Pin up to 2 promotions — a sale, a course launch, a new product — directly to the top of your chat. See the Featured Items guide for how to set these up.

Click "Complete Setup"

Once you hit Complete Setup, Lightwell starts working in the background:

Downloads your Instagram posts (up to your tier limit)
Transcribes the audio from your videos so the AI learns your spoken content
Matches your affiliate products to relevant posts
Builds your clone's full knowledge base

Processing time by tier:

Starter (~50 posts): 5–15 minutes
Pro (~200 posts): 15–30 minutes
Elite (~500 posts): 30–60+ minutes

You'll see a processing status on your dashboard. Once it flips to ready, your clone is live and you can share it.
